1. Covenant University


Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State has emerged as the best university in Nigeria in 2020! This is according to the Times Higher Education World Universities rankings.


Covenant University is a private university which opened on 21 October 2002.


The school is reputable for its excellent performance among other private universities in Nigeria. In 2020, Covenant University has overtaken top public universities in Nigeria like the University of Ibadan, thereby becoming the best university in Nigeria.


Globally, however, Covenant University ranks no 401 while the University of Oxford tops the chart ranking number 1 University in the world.

The University of Ibadan was established in 1947 as the first University in Nigeria and a federal University as that. Since its establishment, the school has been known for its outstanding academic performance.

The University of Lagos was founded in 1962. It presently has three Campuses in Yaba and Surulere. Whereas two of its Campuses are located in Yaba (the main campus in Akoka and the recently created campus at the former School of Radiography), its College of Medicine is located in Idi-Araba, Surulere.


It is remarkable that all three campuses are located in the Mainland of Lagos.
