Annunciation Secondary Schools is a mixed school that offers a college preparatory curriculum in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Religious studies, Social studies, World languages, Arts, Business and Physical education. Building a sense of purpose in our students is at the heart of Annunciation. Our students reach high levels of academic achievements; they graduate and do well in college and beyond; they are given every opportunity through extracurricular activities and athletic programs to excel as persons; and throughout their holistic educational experience, they become oriented toward service to others. We strive to establish a culture in which our students can become more than themselves. We genuinely care for one another and we work at supporting each other—faculty to faculty, student to student and faculty to student. We work hard to help our students feel happy, safe, supported, and appreciated. We make every effort to instill Christian values in our words and actions. Annunciation offers more than just academics. Students have an opportunity to express themselves and excel in athletics, the arts and more. By participating in extracurricular activities, students develop skills such as leadership, working with others, responsibility and self-discipline. The school strongly encourages all students to become involved in at least one extra-curricular activity and in fact, most students participate in several. We also have other extra-curricular activities like Art Club, Press Club, Debate Club, Environmental Club. Annunciation occupies a seven-acre campus with well ventilated and conducive academic classrooms and halls, library, laboratories, ICT lab, hostels for the females and the males, chapel, refectory, and premier athletic facilities. A new ICT and Library complex is just about being finished and would be ready before January 2017. This ICT lab is expected to house at least a hundred computers. The library is state-of-the-art modeled.

The school now known as Annunciation Schools is a catholic mission school owned by the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki. The school started as a nursery school on September 19, 1999 with a small population of nine (9) children but academically wonderful. Since then, the school has continued to blossom and flourish, spreading from nursery through primary to the present day secondary school. The secondary section now known as Annunciation Secondary School started on October, 2006 with a total number of sixty two (62) students and six (6) tutorial staff and four (4) non-tutorial staff. The school had Rev. Fr. Dr. John Okwaeze Odeh as the founder and the first principal of the school. Since that point, he continued to manage and develop the school, making effort to move the school to the greater height. This was until the another principal took over from him. He handed over the school administration/management to Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Njoku on September, 2009 as the second principal of the school. He is a visionary and a promising priest who is ready at any time to take the school to the Promised Land. This has been testified from the numerous projects he started up. However, the quest for more enlightenment saw the second principal leaving the school and travelling for further studies. In order to fill in the vacuum created by the absence of Rev. Fr. Emma Njoku, the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki handed over the mantle of leadership and administration to the current principal, Rev. Fr. Obijiofor Livinus in November 2012. He has remained the principal till date and under him the school has soared to unimaginable heights. The progress of the school has been a gradual one; just like the biblical mustard seed that grew out of nothing. Ever since then, it has steadily experienced growth in all ramifications; moral, intellectual, structural and otherwise. It began just like any other small beginnings, without actually projecting into the future how colossal it would be but today, the school has become some enormous—what was begun in a very small nutshell has grown into a mighty tree as of present.
