About Us

The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University(MCIU) has been established to produce high quality graduates of international standard, who can compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere, anytime in the world. The programmes and academic calendar are designed to enable students graduate within stipulated period and duration of study. Students shall graduate with quality head knowledge, skills, competencies and high moral integrity. Work ethics of diligence and passion for excellence are inculcated into undergraduates. Daily devotions (morning and evening) are part of activities in the University.

Vision

The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University proposes to be a University that will reduce poverty by raising well-rounded graduates who will be builders of any society in which they find themselves. The focus will be on an all-round development of the individual member of the university community without discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity or religion. Students will receive quality education in line with international standards and will be ready to stand challenges of work, life and spirituality.

Mission

The mission of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University is to empower its students and communities through functional education and services that will guarantee reduction of poverty for maximum impact on the development of Nigeria and other societies.

Philosophy

The University will be a centre of excellence that will inculcate in the students critical and analytical thinking skills as well as kindness and generosity. This will enable them to succeed in whatever situation or problem they find themselves without hurting others. There will be a sense of freedom and responsibility in the university and students will see themselves as individuals and members of the Nigerian and global community. The university will be a green university where students will develop a sense to save the earth by caring for their immediate environment. The University will also promote commitment to the ideals of democracy as a means by which society will govern itself and care for her citizens.

Objectives

In a bid to achieve its mission, the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University shall:

  1. Produce skilled high level manpower who are globally competitive and, irrespective of their course of study, shall be independent, self-employed and relevant to the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy and international development.
  2. Encourage the advancement of learning and to hold out to all persons without distinction of race, creed, sex or political conviction the opportunity of acquiring a higher and liberal education.
  3. Create a stimulating and challenging academic environment, provide requisite facilities for the pursuit of effective teaching, learning, research and the acquisition of a liberal education as are appropriate for a University of the highest standing as well as make those facilities available on proper terms to such persons as are equipped to benefit from the use of the facilities.
  4. Advance scholarship, knowledge, research and professionalism; and to promote by research and other means the advancement of knowledge and its practical application to social, moral, cultural, economic, scientific and technological problems in relevant fields of learning.
  5. Promote excellence in science and technology to meet the challenges of the global village.
  6. Inculcate creative and innovative values as well as entrepreneur capacities in students and foster in them an orientation consistent with the philosophy of the University of producing disciplined, upright, morally and ethically sound cultured and patriotic men and women so as to make them more relevant to the national development process thereby ushering in the new Nigeria of our collective dream.
  7. Complement the efforts of Government by generating employment opportunity for Nigerians.

Admission Requirements

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

Accounting

UTME:  Five Credits at SSCE/NECO in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, plus any other Social Science subjects.

DIRECT ENTRY: At least two credits at the GCE A/L, HSC one of which must be Accounting and Economics or Business Management including OND (passed with minimum average of upper credit) in relevant courses from a recognized state or Federal Polytechnic or College of Education/ Technology.

REMARKS: UME subjects are Economics,English,Mathematics and any other subject.

Banking and Finance

UTME:  Five Credits at SSCE/NECO in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, plus any other Social Science subjects.

DIRECT ENTRY: At least two subject at the GCE A/L, HSC one of which must be Accounting and Economics or Business Management including ordinary National Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics (passed with minimum average of upper credit) from a recognized state or Federal Polytechnic or College of Education/ Technology.

Application Information

The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU), Ibru Village, Agbarha-Otor, Computer Based POST-UTME Screening exercise for admission into all Courses/Programmes for the 2019/2020 Academic Session.

Note

  • The Academic Session will commence in SEPTEMBER, 2019.
  • Registration will commence on Monday July 16th, 2019.
  • Candidates are to fill the application form online here

Eligibility

  1. Candidates who wrote the 2019 JAMB UTME conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Direct Entry (DE).
  2. Candidates who made the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University their FIRST CHOICE Institution are eligible for the screening.
  3. All other interested candidates who did not choose Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) as their First and Second Choices are equally eligible to come for the MCIU POST-UTME Screening at MCIU.
  4. Each candidate must possess at least five (5) O’Level Credit Passes including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings in their proposed relevant subject courses.

History

Olorogun (Dr.) Michael and Dr. Cecilia Ibru are both passionate about quality education with values that could affect a change in people’s lives and the country. Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU), was borne out of this passion.

The University was established to reduce poverty by raising well-rounded, globally competitive graduates who will be influencers, society builders in their various fields. MCIU is focused on the development of students without discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity or religion.

MCIU was granted an operating license on March 5, 2015, by the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to “operate as a Private University in Nigeria”. MCIU has positioned herself to be a premier higher institution of learning in Nigeria; which shall, in every sense and standard, be renowned for providing quality and cutting-edge education.

In January 2019, Michael and Cecilia Ibru University was fully (100%) accreditated for all its courses by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
