reeds school Nursery/Primary

The Primary department builds on the foundations laid in the earlier parts of the school, and includes pupils from Years 3 to 6, aged between 7 and 11.  As the children move up through the school, they are taught increasingly by subject specialists. This enables the pupils to benefit from the expertise of highly-experienced specialist staff, and to develop the independence and confidence needed for their future education. Form Tutors track academic progress and provide pastoral care.  Class sizes remain small, ensuring that each child benefits from a high degree of individual care and attention, both inside and outside the classroom. Academic expectations and standards are high, as excellent results in senior school entrance exams indicate.   The school encourages constant communication with parents regarding the progress of their child, and formal reporting procedures are offered half-termly. In addition, parents are always welcome to speak to teachers on an informal basis, should any concerns arise. The core subjects of English, mathematics and science, supported and extended by technology, give children a thorough grounding in the key skills and develop confidence and independence.  In addition, every child is encouraged to be creative and imaginative, and there are plenty of opportunities for self-expression in a wide range of contexts.   Creative opportunities, together with music, art and drama all play a prominent part in the life of the school.  Pupils have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects, using a wide range of technology and resources, and to take part in local and national events and competitions. Parents are warmly welcomed to various music and drama events throughout the year, including form assemblies, ensemble and choir performances. The school also arranges outings to local and national theatre productions, as well as visits to the school from touring companies. OUR SCHOOL VISION AND AIMS OUR STAFF OUR PHILOSOPHY
