In Nigeria, at the forefront of the adoption of some of these changes is the private education sector. Some privately owned schools in Nigeria have continued to drive global best education practices and standards. These schools have taken on the responsibility of providing quality, lifelong education that prepares a whole child for the future.
This ranking unveils some of the secondary schools across the country that are championing quality education. We explored some of the works of these secondary schools in the past academic session. More importantly, we find out why they make the list of the best schools in Nigeria in 2023 ranking out of thousands of others.
Best secondary schools in Nigeria in 2023
Each year, Edusko undergoes a rigorous examination of schools in Nigeria to project some of the best schools in the country. The best secondary schools in Nigeria's annual ranking, among other things, serves as a guide for parents and guardians who want nothing but the best education for their children. Similar to the previous year, we collated data on the initially selected 500 plus top secondary schools across the country to make a well-informed decision.

1. Lifeforte International School, Ibadan
Ranking as the number 1 best school in Nigeria in 2021, Lifeforte was ranked second in the list in 2022 and this year, it has regained its position as the best school in Nigeria in 2023.
Lifeforte International School is a co-educational Private Christian Institution, consisting of Preschool, Junior and High Schools for children between the ages of 3-18 years. Over 20 students who sat for the Cambridge O-level May/June 2022 examination had A*/A in Mathematics while over 27 students who sat for the exam had A*/A in English.

3. Chrisland High school, Lagos

In one of the recent WAEC results, at Chrisland VGC, out of 67 that sat for the exam, 45 had A1, 15 had B2 and 7 had B3 in Mathematics. For the English Language, 11 had A1, 32 had B2 and 21 had B3. Only 21 sat for Further Mathematics and 20 had A1 while 1 person had B2.

Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) was founded in 1998 in Wuse 2, Abuja, Nigeria. The school was welcomed by Nigerians and has been supported constantly since its inception. 6. Meadow Hall College, Lagos
Meadow Hall College has ranked in the top 10 best schools in Nigeria since 2021. This year, Meadow has maintained its position and remains one of the leading secondary schools in Nigeria in 2023.
The leadership team of Meadow Hall is composed of experienced leaders and educators who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to their roles. The school’s founder Dr. Kehinde Nwani obtained her Bachelor of Law degree from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar over 35 years ago. 7. Capital Science Academy, Abuja
Capital Science Academy Abuja is a well-established and highly successful Secondary day and boarding school set in a beautiful and secluded fifty-hectare campus in Kuje, Abuja. 8. Greater Tomorrow College, Ondo State
Greater Tomorrow International College is another school that has always ranked on the best schools in Nigeria list. This year, the school has taken a few steps upwards to the 8th position. .
The school has earned its position as one of the best across the county for many years since its establishment.

13. Bloombreed High School, Port Harcourt, Rivers
Bloombreed is arguably one of the best secondary schools in Nigeria in 2023.
The school is governed by a board of directors with over 150 years of experience accumulated across different disciplines chaired by Sir Mutiu Sunmonu (CON), skilled educationists with a wealth of experience working in international schools providing educational services to high profile and elitist clients. In the June 2022 IGSCE examinations, more than 40% of Bloombreed students who sat for the exams had A*/A in mathematics while more than 45% of students had A*/A in English Language. 14. Bethel American International School, Ibadan
