The GSIS – Accra has a nursery with a capacity for 12 children aged between 1 year and 3 years. When the children turn 3, or attain the required level of development (e.g. is out of diapers during the day), they can be moved into the kindergarten group. The bilingual concept is integrated into the entire daily routine and is supported by targeted pedagogical activities. There is enough space for movement and room for creativity in areas like drawing, craft, role play etc. This way, fine and gross motor skills are fostered and the children get to know their abilities through the very important processes of self-efficacy. During the morning circle which is music-oriented, a variety of topics are handled in a playful way, so that even the youngest ones get a feeling for concentration, cognition and community. By having a variety of activities which are changed within a set daily routine, the children have the opportunity of taking the appropriate development strides within a protected and secure framework. Effort is made to ensure that all the areas of development and support are taken into consideration and that bilingualism is promoted.  During free -play time, their child-like curiosity and interest for new things is challenged and encouraged. Furthermore, the children have the opportunity of doing things based on their interests and needs. The main target in the nursery is to create an atmosphere of safety for the smallest ones, where they feel comfortable and are able to develop well.  Building a relationship of trust is very important to us. In order to be able to do this, it is vital that the children get a good start, which we provide through a gradual period of familiarization.  By so doing, the child gets to know the personnel as well as the daily structure in the nursery.   Familiarization in the nursey The aim of the phase of familiarization is to ensure that the child is able to build a relationship of trust with the new nursery teacher. You support your child during this phase of familiarization by giving him/her a sense of security. Based on this sense of security, your child will be able to curiously open up to a new environment and a new person. We work with the Berlin Familiarization Model introduced by Infans.

In early 1966, was the RMS Swiss School in Accra, Ghana, established thanks to enormous initiative of the Swiss colony in Ghana. Special attention goes to the spouses Gottfried and Marianne Bolleter who participated significantly as local businessmen in the construction of the school.  The Swiss School in Accra bears her name in memory of the Swiss missionary Friedrich August Ramseyer, who worked from 1864 to during 44 years on the "Gold Coast". He first worked as a supervisor of construction works in Accra (then Christiansborg). With regard to the health of his wife he had to be moved after three years. At first he was entrusted with the school in Akropong, later he should take over the mission in Anum. But meanwhile, broke out in the south of the war the British and the southern tribes against the Ashanti.FA Ramseyer was conducted as a prisoner to Kumasi with his family and released only after 5 years.
