Rose of Sharon Academy began as a dream in the heart of a visionary in 2004 who saw a different African future shaped by principled, bold and innovative citizens and understood the critical role that must be played to nurture and guide the children of the continent and prepare them to play their part in actualizing this future. The name Rose of Sharon is derived from the Bible and it is to be found in the book of Song of Solomon 2:1 which states “I am the Rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys.” It was named so, so that all children who come into RSA will bear the attributes of Christ and this is further enhanced by our motto ; “nurturing excellence in spirit, wisdom and grace.” Rose of Sharon Academy opened its doors on 4th January 2005 with a Kindergarten and a 8-4-4 Primary school up to Standard 2 having 14 pupils. In it’s first term we had 7 learners, 21 in the second term and on one morning in the third term, a nearby school closed and the school was pleased to onboard 41 learners, teaching staff, it’s first bus and a driver that same morning. Our Present Rose of Sharon Academy is are now a campus having both fully fledged Kindergarten, lower primary and secondary across the two curricula in its offering i.e 8-4-4 now CBC and the Cambridge International Curriculum. We have a growing population of 500 learners, 100+ teaching and support staff. We have a solid pastoral program central to our guidance of the learners’ values and belief systems to mirror Jesus Christ’s, the Rose of Sharon.
